Computer vision for lunar rovers: reconstruction quality of 3D Gaussian Splatting under lunar lighting.

  • Characterized how lunar-specific imaging conditions affect the reliability of 3DGS reconstructions used for rover path planning.
  • Ran ordered image sequences through a 3DGS pipeline and systematically varied lighting to find where reconstruction quality breaks down.
  • Quantified how harsh, low-angle polar lighting degrades reconstructions and characterized the failure regimes.
  • Wrote research paper awaiting approval for publication and presentation at 2027 AeroConf in Big Sky, Montana.

Marvin Composites · R&D Engineering Intern

Materials characterization and process optimization for fiberglass composite production.

  • Thermal analysis (TGA, DSC) and mechanical testing on an MTS QTest Elite (tensile, flexural, compression) to qualify resins, mats, and rovings.
  • Physical characterization: density, PATTI coating adhesion, inorganic decomposition, Omnimark moisture analysis.
  • Led a root-cause analysis of a decade-old manufacturing issue and delivered improvement opportunities for production.
